Coinbase slows hiring to help weather market downturn

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has reined in a plan to triple its headcount this year in response to turbulent market conditions. Visa’s global head of fintech and crypto, Terry Angelos, is leaving the financial services company to take over as CEO of mobile trading tech company DriveWealth, according to CNBC. DriveWealth was founded in 2012 and is based in Jersey City. Bitstamp appoints new CEO after Julian Sawyer’s sudden departure

Crypto exchange Bitstamp announced on Monday that CEO Julian Sawyer has left the company, with Europe CEO JB Graftieaux promoted to replace him. Sawyer, who had been in the role for 18 months, has “decided to pursue other opportunities,” Bitstamp wrote in a statement on Monday, confirming reports from The Block on Saturday. Revolut’s head of crypto has left the company for an as-yet unannounced destination.  Jean Meyer joined the neobank last September as part of Revolut’s first acquisition of start-up Wanted, a recruitment marketplace. He progressed from head of product to head of crypto in January, according to his LinkedIn page. Christine Sandler, former executive at the crypto division of asset manager Fidelity, has left the firm for a new position as general partner at crypto asset investment firm Walden Bridge Capital.
