Mexico’s national soccer team adds crypto exchange Bitso as sponsor

Latin America exchange Bitso has become the first crypto sponsor for the Mexican National Team (Selección Mexicana de Fútbol).  The soccer team, which counts 98,700 followers on its English-language Twitter account, will work with Bitso to offer crypto education opportunities in Mexico and also develop a series of NFTs that the exchange will distribute. Mexican government signals circulation of digital currency by 2024

Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego recently encouraged followers in a holiday Twitter greeting to avoid fiat and invest in bitcoin.  “Stay away from fiat money,” Salinas said in a Spanish-language video posted to Twitter on Dec. 24. “The dollar, the euro, the yen, the peso — all are the same story.
